Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and get in touch with us, whatever their ability or the technology they use.
What we aim for
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. If you find something that does not work well for you, please let us know so we can fix it.
How the site is built
- Readable text: body text is dark on a light background, designed to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- Keyboard access: menus, the claim checker, questions and answers, and forms can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Skip link: a "Skip to main content" link lets keyboard and screen reader users go straight past the header.
- Structure: each page has one main heading, headings follow in order, and the page uses standard landmarks such as header, navigation, main content and footer.
- Zoom and small screens: pages are designed to reflow on mobile phones and when text is enlarged up to 200%.
- Forms: every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and messages after sending are announced to screen readers.
- Motion: animations are reduced if you have asked your device to minimise motion.
